Quarterly Meeting on May 12th with Dr. Gary K. Rhoads

4/05/2011 11:02:00 AM by Travis Jensen |

Set aside May 12th from 6-8pm for the next UtahPMA quarterly meeting. We will be honored to have Dr. Gary K. Rhoads share with us how successful entrepreneurs market their business with ideas from his 2009 book "Boom Start: Super Laws of Successful Entrepreneurs." He will teach us his model for how entrepreneurs should to rate their new business idea, and how to make those ideas a booming success.

Dr. Rhoads holds a PhD in Marketing from Texas Tech University and is currently the Stephen Mack Covey Professor of Marketing and Associate Director of the Center of Entrepreneurship & Technology at Brigham Young University. He presently works with start-up companies on crafting marketing strategies that accelerate company growth. Professor Rhoads was the founding partner of Direct1.com (sold to Computer Science Corp in 1999), Co-founder of Zachary Douglass, as well as Co-founder and past Chairman of the Board of Allegiance. Currently, Rhoads serves on the board of advisors for the Center of Economic Development and Opportunity to help start-up firms successfully launch in Utah. In addition to Boom Start, Rhoads is the co-author of Becoming a Plus-One Leader that highlights the best leadership and marketing practices of successful entrepreneurs.

We encourage you to invite any other product managers, product marketing managers, or anybody else who might be interested that you know. The more we connect, the more value the group will have for everybody.

Roundtable Lunch, April 14th

4/05/2011 10:50:00 AM by Travis Jensen |

The Utah Product Management Association (UPMA) Roundtable Luncheon is Thursday, April 14th, starting at 11:30AM. This is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, ask questions, and give input to the future of UPMA. It is also an opportunity to commiserate with other product managers.

This month's topic:

ProductCamp Utah

If you are not familiar with a product camp, here is an example.

We will be meeting at China House at 177 West 12300 South, Draper, UT (facing West on 123rd South just off of I-15 toward South Jordan).

As always, there is no such thing as a free lunch, so make sure to bring your wallet.

UtahPMA meets every month for lunch on the second Thursday. Mark it on your schedule!
